History


Gazi University School of Medicine was opened on 02.10.1979 as a part of Ankara School of Financial and Commercial Sciences (ASFCS). With the Higher Education Act of 1982 a reorganisation occurred in higher education. All the institutions and school of medicine of ASFCS were transferred to Gazi University.The faculty increased its development rate and established departments on 5.11.1982. The departments of Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology were gathered under the department of Morphology.

The classes for Histology and Embryology started in 1980-1981 academic year with second year students. The first academic member of the department was Associate Prof. M. Tahir Hatiboğlu. The heads of department are: Prof. Dr. M. Tahir Hatiboğlu (1982 - 1983), Prof. Dr. Yüksel Saran (Temporarily appointed from A.U School of Medicine, 1983 - 1984), Prof. Dr. Deniz Erdoğan (1984 - ).

In October 1983, G.U. Faculty of Dentistry Histology and Enbryology Assistant Müfide Görgün, was appointed as the first assistant of G.U Medical School.

Hacettepe University School of Medicine academic member Associate Prof. Deniz Erdoğan was appointed on 02.05.1984 as academic member and then head of department and founded the department.

Research Opportunities and Study Topşcs of Our Department :

  • All studies which can be carried out with our departments inventory stock are carried out.
  • Fine structural identifications, findings, diagnostics are made on organs and tissue levels in the filed of Electron microscope.
  • All researches within the Light microscope level
  • All Immunohistochemical studies.
  • Many current studies such as burnt and cut tissues, pharmaceutical applications, embryological tissues, growth events, skeleton paintings and histochemical method practices.
