History

 

Gazi Unevrsity School of Medicine Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was founded at the  Emergency Aid and Traffic Hospital in 1982. The departments first nurising unit was established in 1985 in Gölbaşı. After the foundation of the School of Medicine Hospital in Beşevler, the ambulatory treatments and polyclinic services were given from Beşevler. In 1991 the polyclinic building was finished and ambulatory treatment units were moved to the ground floor and the polyclinic to the second floor. They were reunited on the second floor after the construction was finished. In 1997, after the completion of the constructions, a 25 bed ehabilitation clinic was opened and this clinic was moved to the B Blok where the inpatient units were situated. The inpatient service in Gölbaşı was closed in 2002 after an 18 year service. Our department currently houses 12 academic members (7 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors, 1 Instructor) and serves with its 31 bed capacity.

Our department also includes Romatology. Electrotheraphy and rehabilitation units, Electroneurophysiology, Orthopedic rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Hand rehabilitation units, orthesis workshop, and urodynamics laboratory actively function within our department. Medical School students, research assistants, specialists from other clinics who arrive via rotation are also schooled in our department. We teach our medical school students at Term III Muscle Skeleton System Committee, Term V FTR internship, and Term V Geriatrics internship. 52 research assistants have completed their specialty trainings; currently there are 17 research assistant continuing their specialty trainings.
