Practice Research

Our department serves the patients of the Coronary Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiology Service. Interventional cardiac and vascular processes are practiced in the Hemodynamics and Angiography laboratory. Our department also conducts polyclinic as well as processes such as echocardiography, stress test, ambulatory rhythm and blood pressure monitoring.

Our department’s structure and function are as follows:

1- Coronary Intensive Care Unit:

Our coronary intensive care unit has a 20 bed capacity

2- Cardiology Service:

Our service has a 23 bed capacity

3- Ecocardiography Unit :

A total of approximately 15000 transthoracic echocardiographies, 300 transesophageal echocardiographies and 200 stress echocardiographies are performed every year.

4- Polyclinics :

3 polyclinics serve our patients one of which is a coronary angiography preparing polyclinic.

5- Heart Catheterization Laboratory:

A total of 1500 coroner angiographies and 300 PKG are applied in our laboratories every year. In addition, mitral balloon valvuloplasty processes are performed in a percutaneous method and ASD, PDA, PFO closing processes are performed.

6- Electrophysiology Laboratory:

40 permanent batteries, 10 ICD implantations, 50 elektrophysiological studies on patients and 15 ablations on patients are conducted every year in our laboratories. In addition, 80 Tilt table tests are conducted.

7- Exercise EKG Test:

Approximately 3000 exercise EKG tests are conducted.

8- Holter EKG Unit:

Approximately 2000 Holter EKGs and 800 ambulatory blood pressure monitorizations are conducted every year.

We participate in national and international multi-centered studies and represent Gazi University School of Medicine in these fields.
