History of Gazi University Division of Ophthalmology

Division of Ophthalmology was founded by Prof. Dr. Berati HASANREİSOĞLU in 1983. Vitreus and retina diseases, neuro-ophthalmology, cornea, pediatric ophthalmology and diplopia, refractive surgery, glaucoma, oculoplastics and contackt lense units constitute the department. The department of Ophthalmology, which is considered to be a reference clinic nationwide, continues its clinic and polyclinic services on the 13^th floor of the Gazi University Hospital with 27 beds. In its general and local operating theatres surgeries are performed everyday on 3 tables with the most modern equipments adding up to approximately 4000 surgeries each year.
