History

 

Our Urology Division was established in September 1979 as a part of the Ankara Academy of Economics Faculty of Medicine by Prof. Dr. Mehmet YARDIMCI and Specialist Dr. İbrahim BOZKIRLI and started up at Muhittin ÜLKER Emergency and Traffic Hospital. With the establishment of Gazi University in 1982, our division has become Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. Associate Professor İbrahim BOZKIRLI has been the head of the division with the retirement of Prof. Dr. Mehmet YARDIMCI in 1984. Our division moved to the new hospital of Gazi University which is in Beşevler. In 1985, urinary bladder tumor, transüretral treatment of benign prostate hiperplazy, internal uretrotomy, ureterrenotroscopic surgery of urinary Stones were implemented. Ureterrenotroscopic surgery was first performed in our clinic. ESWL center satarted up first in Ankara and second in Turkey and contributed the recognition of Gazi Urology. Approximately 12000 patients’ urinary Stones were treated here.

In 1994 Urology clinic started to give service with 31 beds asa a modern clinic. By 2009 the number of the lecturers in our division has risen up to 13 and the number of the research assistants has become 11. The division has been giving service in the field of education and urology. The specialists of our clinic which has raised more than 45 specialists have been serving as supervisor, deputy supervisor and specialist doctor in different hospitals in Turkey. In our clinic equipped with the modern techniques of urology, all treatment and diagnosis are being implemented.

Still in our clinic, all kind of surgeries and implementations can be carried out. These have been defined in the field of research.
